Hey, everybody, once again, this is Ceyron, with Loyalty Pest Control here in Wilmington, Delaware. You know, a customer asked me the other day. Is it true that cockroaches can cause asthma? Now, if you’ve never heard anything like that before? Well the answer to that question. It is yes, it actually they can contribute to health problems to breathing problems, particularly in small children. Why? Small children and older older adults. Why? Because they may have a compromised, or a weakened immune system. Well, and really the reason why it’s really the, the organic or material, the frass, that sometimes we identified as the saliva, the droppings, the decomposing bodies, all of those are known to contain these proteins that are triggers for allergies, and they can increase the severity of asthma symptoms, especially in children. So it’s so important to be able to control the number of cockroaches or really get rid of a cockroach infestation environment and if possible, be able to vacuum up any dead carcasses using a HEPA filter. So those allergens don’t get into the air, mix around in the air and then in turn, breathe those into your lungs. So you certainly do have to be careful. So yes, they are definitely a contributing factor to adding to the severity of asthma. So it’s so important for you to be able to try to get those if you do have a cockroach problem getting it under control, especially if you have young children, you know, because they they certainly could cause some some, you know, serious health effects.
